People of The Story

We are people of The Story. It's that story where God reveals himself, bring hope to us and gives life. Our stories are a part of The Story and our great beginning starts with God's presence. We are simply a part of The Story.

The story of our lives intersects with God's story. We get messed up and when we think the story is about us. We tend to start telling a different story, a story about self, when we try to fill the main character role. We are important and precious characters in The Story, but in no way are we the lead actors.

We can't be people who live lives (tell stories) where we are at the center. When we tell such stories, we take away the focus and purpose of The Story. It's a story worth sharing, living and owning because of that life giving power and hope.

Maybe I've been on this "me" vs. "God" idea too long or long enough to make things uncomfortable for me, but it's an issue we face everyday. When we consider our lives as stories, as something we tell others, our children and even strangers, we begin to think of our lives as something either worth sharing or something to hide.

It's my greatest fear that my life, my story will be nothing to know about. And it's not because I want MY story to be worth sharing, I want THE STORY of Christ to be worth sharing through my life actions.

Let's work together as a church family. Let's strive to tell stories of God's revealing, hope centered, life giving power by how we speak, act and live every single day.
